Faculty Job Search Part 2: Research and Teaching Statements
This session will help you get started on preparing your faculty application materials. Get advice on how to write compelling research and teaching statements, including discussion of content, structure and purpose of each type of statement. You’ll have a chance to ask questions!
Presenter Bio:
Simona Rosu, Ph.D.
Academic Program Specialist | Scientific Awards, Research Integrity & Research Communication
Prior to joining Broad, Simona provided career and professional development services to graduate students and postdocs at MIT, including presenting an annual faculty job search workshop series. Trained as a scientist, Simona has a PhD in Genetics from Stanford University, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She has conducted research in molecular, cell, and developmental biology, with a focus on mechanisms of DNA meiotic recombination and germline cell division. She has been involved in a variety of teaching, mentoring, and outreach activities for various audiences, from the general public to NIH trainees. Simona’s role at the Broad encompasses multiple areas, including 1) science writing for external prize nominations, 2) developing training programs and resources for research integrity & responsible conduct of research, and 3) providing professional development workshops through the Broad Research Communication Lab.
