About this Event
Join us for a talk by Dr. Lucia Peixoto, Associate Professor at Washington State University, as she delves into the intricate links between sleep and neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Peixoto will explore how insomnia, a condition highly prevalent in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intersects with brain development and molecular regulation. Drawing from her work with mouse models carrying mutations in the ASD-risk gene Shank3, she'll discuss how sleep deprivation alters transcriptional responses across the brain, how these effects change with age and recovery sleep, and how disruptions in chromatin architecture may underlie these phenomena. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain new insights into the molecular foundations of sleep and neurodevelopment!
