Please join us Thursday, October 30th from 12:30-1:45 p.m. in the Auditorium (415 Main Street) for a demo and conversation with the authors of the new book Atlas of Macroscopes: Interactive Data Visualizations.

Katy Börner, Elizabeth Record, and Todd Theriault will introduce their fascinating data adventure that explores our world through the lens of macroscopes—interactive visualizations that transform vast datasets into illuminating, holistic views of complex systems and networks.

Unlike traditional static maps, macroscopes are living portals to continuously evolving data, offering powerful entry points for scientists and laypeople alike to engage directly with information and conduct their own lines of questioning. The book showcases 40 real-life macroscopes from the acclaimed traveling exhibit Places & Spaces: Mapping Science (2015–2024).

The authors will demo several macroscopes and invite you to explore these interactive data landscapes yourself. Whether your interests are personal or professional, local or global, macroscopes empower you to see the big picture and gain new perspectives on how to gather, understand, and communicate data in our ever-changing world.

We hope to see you there!
